Earthy Mid-Century Modern Bathroom Remodel

The time has finally come my friends - our bathroom renovation at the Earthy Mid-Century Modern project is COMPLETE and I'm so excited to share it with you! If you've been following along with the saga on Instagram, the bathroom was actually completed months ago but we've been held up one final (but major) detail: the cabinets. Fortunately we got them in and dare I say it was worth the wait! Before we look at the finished product, let's take a stroll down memory lane to see the 'before'.

Our client put it best: she said this room just 'really bummed her out' before and you can see why. The couple we worked with is vibrant, fun, and overall badass... all things this bathroom clearly was not. The bathroom had aging linoleum floors, plastic panels for shower walls and an awkward cubby that didn't maximize storage. Our goal was to create a sophisticated space that balanced mid-century modern and organic/earthy styles, as well as incorporate elements that paid respect to the history of the home (it's a 1940s bungalow). So, how do you think we did?

Do you love it?! I SURE DO. I'm not afraid to toot my own horn on this one, I think we knocked it out of the park! The hard finishes in this bathroom could work easily with an assortment of different design aesthetics, making it a big equity booster if the homeowners decide to sell. We balanced the classic herringbone flooring with a more modern and organic square tile in the shower, giving us that perfect blend of vintage and modern. This is the client's only full bathroom so it was paramount that we made it as functional as possible. To improve the function we moved the toilet 6 inches closer to the wall which gave us space to put in a significantly larger vanity (more counterspace!). This bathroom is very narrow which was definitely a challenge. There is a stairwell under where the awkward cubby space was so we couldn't add more square footage/floor space. So instead we added gorgeous new cabinets into the cubby space, making it feel more intentional and increasing the storage in this bathroom considerably. We are so grateful to our clients for trusting us throughout this process (especially when we had some unexpected issues) - it was an honor to remodel this space and I'm so proud of the work Brendan did here, especially with the tile. I hope you love the finished space as much as we do!
